Soft washing in Horowhenua & Kāpiti

Your house,
but juicier.

Low-pressure soft washing that treats the mould, algae and lichen instead of just blasting at them. Gentle on your paint, tough on the green stuff.

That green tinge isn't dirt. It's alive.

Mould, algae and lichen thrive in our damp, salty coastal air. Blasting knocks them back but can leave the roots behind. Soft washing treats the growth first, then rinses the lot away.

Soft wash vs water blast

Gentle on your house. Brutal on the mould.

Water blasting

All muscle, no brains.

  • High pressure that can strip paint and damage older weatherboards.
  • Can drive water behind cladding, flashings and window seals.
  • Knocks growth off the surface but can leave the roots behind.
Soft washing

Treat it, then rinse it.

  • Low pressure, closer to a garden hose than a blaster.
  • A cleaning solution treats mould, algae and lichen where they grow.
  • Rinsed off gently, with far less risk to your paint and seals.

Roof treatments

Moss and lichen treated where they grow, without high pressure on your tiles or iron.

Fences & decks

Grey, green and slippery, back to something you'd walk on barefoot.

Paths & driveways

Concrete and pavers can take more pressure, so we use the right method for the surface.

Fair questions.

What actually is soft washing?
It's cleaning with a treatment solution and low pressure instead of a high-pressure blaster. The solution does the hard work of treating mould, algae and lichen, then we rinse it off gently.
Will it damage my paint?
Soft washing is designed to avoid the damage high pressure can cause, like stripped paint and water forced behind cladding. If paint is already flaking or chalky, a wash can show that up, so we'll point out anything we notice before we start.
Is it safe for my garden and pets?
Confirm your practice: how you protect plants (pre-wetting, rinsing, covering) and whether pets should stay inside during the wash.
Do I need to be home?
Confirm: whether you need someone home, access to an outside tap, and windows and doors shut.
How long does it take?
Confirm: a typical time for an average single-storey house.
How often should I get my house washed?
There's no fixed rule. Plenty of homes get washed every year or two, and places near the coast or in the shade often need it sooner. We'll tell you honestly what yours needs.
Does the sea air really make a difference?
It does. Homes along this coast cop wind-driven salt off the sea, mostly on the prevailing westerlies, and that salty, damp air helps grime and growth build up faster than it would inland.
What if it rains?
Confirm: your rain policy, for example rebooking if heavy rain is forecast on the day.
How much does it cost?
Every house is different, so we price each one properly. Send your address and a few photos through the form and we'll come back with a free quote.
